About EECP Therapy
What is EECP therapy?
Enhanced External Counterpulsation (EECP) is an FDA-approved, non-invasive, outpatient treatment option for patients with various cardiovascular conditions. This therapy involves gently compressing and releasing your lower limbs to enhance blood flow to your heart muscle.
EECP treats long-term chest pain or chronic angina that does not respond to other treatments. EECP therapy may also be recommended for some people who need a procedure to restore blood flow to their heart and are not eligible for surgery.
This type of therapy encourages blood vessels to open new pathways for blood flow to your heart. These new open pathways help relieve symptoms of angina if your coronary arteries are narrowed or blocked.
Advantages of EECP Therapy:
-
Fewer and less frequent symptoms of angina, including chest pain and shortness of breath
-
Increased energy
-
More ability to be active or exercise without symptoms
-
Reduced need for medication
Risks of EECP Therapy:
-
Muscle Aches
Outpatient Treatment:
